ACE Youth is the youth dance company of ACE dance and music. Formed in 1998, they’re a group of talented young people from in and around Birmingham, between 11 and 21 years old. Trained under the artistic eye of Gail Parmel, ACE Youth promotes confidence and understanding in young artists and communities through the appreciation of African and Caribbean culture, dance and music. ACE Youth can demonstrate a growing reputation for exciting, physical, challenging work. In 2011 five more members of ACE Youth successfully auditioned for professional dance training; 95% of ACE Youth members who audition now go on to gain a place to train professionally. Furthermore, ACE Youth member Iona Waite has just been awarded the BBC performing arts fund Dance Fellowship 2011.

ACE is committed to developing young dancers and giving opportunities to young people and this award offers best practice for bridging the gap between youth dance and professional dance.
