ACE Education Officer and Company dancer Iona Waite will be winging her way across the Atlantic in January to attend the prestigious International Association of Blacks in Dance conference taking place in Los Angeles at the end of that month.
Thanks to one the first Developing Practice grants to be awarded by the Birmingham Dance Hub, Iona will represent ACE dance and music taking her own, unique experience into the international arena, gaining amazing contacts and experience for her future career.
Later in 2018 Iona will rekindle her professional friendship with the world famous Alvin Ailey Dance Theater in New York to spend fourteen days in professional dance classes at The Ailey School, which she visited in 2011.
Naturally Iona is over the moon to be one of the first recipients of the award;
“I am really pleased to receive the Dance Hub Developing Practice Grant.
It is a great opportunity for me to develop my professional practice, widen my artistic experiences but, most importantly, through this experience I will be able to encourage potential, build confidence and nurture inventiveness with the next generation of young people here at ACE dance and music.”
We wish her well and are proud that Iona will show the world that ACE dance and music is a Company with talent and ambition at a global level.
