ACEspace: how could you use our studio?

ACE dance and music recently caught up with Street Step’s Operations Manager, Kiran Basra, who uses our versatile studio, ACE space.

Street Step uses a combined dance fitness and employability programme to tackle youth unemployment in Birmingham, London and Glasgow.  They deliver a 14 week programme to support people, aged 16-24 who face social-economic barriers to achieve sustained employment, education and training.  Their programme delivers a national recognised qualification in numeracy, literacy, employability skills, understanding healthy living and taking part in fitness and exercise.

Participants undergo job search activities, 1-to-1 support and advice, mock interviews and CV-writing sessions to increase their confidence when facing employers. They then provide work placement opportunities with employers for their academy graduates. They also provide 12 months of aftercare support and which leads to sustainability employment.

Street step use the space here at ACE dance and music as it is in a central location and is easily accessible via pubic transport. Likewise, ACE offers a friendly atmosphere and is a thriving hub for dance based activity.

‘’As well as being in a central location, the main aim when we looked at ACE space was that the activities that happen here are all related to dance and is something that links in with our ethos. It’s a good atmosphere for the young people.”

Operations Manager, Street Step
