From Matthew Bourne’s Re:Bourne to Jonny Autin: A Week of Hosting Talent from Across the UK

Last week we had some big names in the studio here at #ACEspace.

On Sunday we were honoured to host Matthew Bourne’s Re:Bourne who were auditioning young dancers for Dance on Water. The Dance on Water project is an intensive dance programme that will involve a group of up to twenty young people creating a new, high quality, dance piece inspired by a seven day canal boat journey.

We also hosted Rudi and Julia from Humanhood on Friday who were working on a new full length production, Zero, which merges quantum physics and neuroplasticity into movement and sound with the intention of delivering a 4D experience.

Earlier in the week DanceXchange also used the studio to rehearse for Cubes, ahead of the International Dance Festival Birmingham, 2016. With performance styles ranging from street dance, B Boy and contemporary to flamenco, South Asian, parkour and circus; Cubes is a spectacular watch, which showcases local talent.

Jonny Autin of Birmingham based professional dance theatre company, Autin Dance Theatre were also in the studio working with Sooraj Subramaniam on Balbir Singh’s explosive duet, Learning to Dance. The piece will be premiered on 26th May at the Southbank Centre as part of the Alchemy Festival.
