Iona Waite awarded BBC Dance Fellowship

We are delighted to announce that ACE Youth member Iona Waite has been awarded the  BBC performing arts fund Dance Fellowship 2011

ACE has been funded to offer a unique training opportunity for Iona to work with the company, joining our Dancers in the studio as an apprentice, shadowing the dancers on the ICE tour, carrying out project work and administration.  Many of the venues ACE will be visiting are hosting extensive education residencies and Iona will work with ACE co-delivering lecture demonstrations and workshops.

Iona has eleven years of experience working as part of ACE Youth, she has completed a Foundation course in Contemporary Dance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance and is now in her final year at the University of Wolverhampton studying for a degree in Dance and Professional Practice. Iona won the award panel over with her clear passion for dance and her ability to strike up relationships with people from all walks of life.  Iona has a clear ability to lead others and to work as part of a team and this is a great opportunity for her to carve herplace within the dance world.

ACE is committed to developing young dancers and giving opportunities to young people.  This award offers best practice for bridging the gap between youth dance and professional dance.
