Jessica Butler
Springboard Project Artist
About Jessica
Born in Ghana, Jessica Butler graduated from De Montfort University in 2021 with a BA Hons in Performing Arts having begun her artistic journey at the age of 12 by playing leading roles in many school musical productions such as Lion King and High School Musical. Moving forwards, Jessica developed a passion for dance and, whilst at De Montfort, she joined a Hip Hop dance society. This led to an opportunity to compete with a street dance crew, Code Crew for 4 years.
Since graduating, she has performed in Berlin’s Monolog Festival 2021 and 2022 in collaboration with Gobsquad, and worked with organisations like the Hippodrome, Gobsquad, ACE Dance and Music and most recently Black Country Dance Hub.
Jessica firmly believes that dance is a universal language that brings all walks of life together no matter what their experience or background is.
Springboard is a programme for entrepreneurial, early career artists delivered by ACE Dance and Music and supported with investment from Dance Hub Birmingham.
