PREMIERE: SEPTEMBER 2009 NORTHERN SCHOOL OF CONTEMPORARY DANCE
Set in a black and white space, this is an exciting collaborative work by ACE’s directors Gail and Ian Parmel with choreographers Douglas Thorpe (Phoenix Dance Company) and Andile Sotiya. An exciting blend of sophisticated dance, music and visuals, accompanied by a robust and agile cast of six international and UK based dancers, a live musician and a world class composer.
Six agile dancers push themselves to their physical limits in a sophisticated mix of dance, music and awe inspiring visuals.
WHAT PEOPLE ARE SAYING
“The show was great – such fantastic dancers and the performance quality was excellent. We loved the film work and the variety of musical influences. A really enjoyable evening – especially for the young people from Salisbury Youth Dance Company – several of whom are going on to study dance further once they leave school.”
“What a fantastic start to our season, ‘Switch’ provided. Energetic, thought provoking and visually stunning, the thrilling experience had by all was confirmed by a well-earned rapturous applause and a great atmosphere in the foyer afterwards. Sales exceeded all expectations with a near sell-out show. ACE dance and music were a pleasure to work with and all of us at NSCD look forward to welcoming them back again in the future.”
The Northern School of Contemporary Dance
“…Switch is brilliant – a dance number that boundlessly reflects our lives as we wake up each day enslaved by our need for electrical power, a stream of raw energy and unfathomable rushes of digi-info.”
“Full of energy, creativity and promise.”
“Highly-stylised contemporary movement with borrowed timing and execution from Hip Hop… the production quality and the dancers’ technique was second to none.”
Mesmerising, powerful, moving contemporary dance. I’m still buzzing after seeing Switch in Dorchester. It’s simply one of the best shows of its type I’ve seen for a long time. Stunning dance, amazing visuals and powerful music all come together in an extraordinary multimedia performance. This a show to savour – don’t miss it!
