Carnival is Colour

Carnival is Colour was an education project run by ACE dance and music in partnership with Black Country Dance Hub.

ACE professional dancers, two early-career dance artists and a local craft artist delivered weekly dance and craft workshops in 5 primary schools across the Black Country culminating in a performance alongside ACE Youth company and Fused at the New Art Gallery Walsall in July 2023. Each school’s performance was inspired by a different Caribbean country and their stunning national flower, creating a huge botanical carnival celebration with dance, choral music and crafts. The school groups taking part learned about and engaged in the history of Caribbean Carnival, the cultural connections and global perspective of Caribbean countries.
