About Lihle
Lihle Mfene was born and raised in Montagu, South Africa. A passionate and dynamic dancer, he graduated from the Cape Academy of Performing Arts (CAPA) in 2020 and began his artistic journey at Dancescape South Africa. His extensive training covers a wide range of disciplines, including drama, singing, ballet, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, choreography, acting, and physical theatre, with a strong foundation in African dance.
During his final year at CAPA, Lihle was given the opportunity to choreograph a piece for Dancescape South Africa, which he and his fellow dancers performed at the prestigious 7th Biennale Tanzausbildung in Hamburg, Germany, at the Kampnagel Theatre complex in 2020.
Even as an ex company dancer at Jazzart Dance Theatre, Lihle still contributes to their productions, showcasing his versatility and passion for the performing arts. His international experiences include a performance collaboration with Opera North and Phoenix Dance Theatre in the UK, which was received with positive reviews. Recently, after six years, Lihle returned to the Bates Dance Festival in the United States to further explore his artistry and connect with fellow artists from around the world.
Lihle believes in the power of continuous learning and strives to inspire others by sharing his knowledge and experiences, particularly with young, upcoming dancers. His goal is to help them cultivate their own unique voices through movement and artistic expression.
